Do we need to fear Panchak?

What is Panchak?

The myths of Panchak.

We Bharatvasi do auspicious activities using a good Muhurat i.e. Auspicious timing for particular activities.

Moon transits each nakshatra and completes the cycle in approximately 27 days.

WHAT IS PANCHAK?

When the Moon travels last 5 Nakshtras ie. Dhanishta, Satabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada, Uttara Bhadrapada, and Revati Nakshatra are said to be Panchak days. That is when the moon transits the Aquarius sign and Pisces is called Panchak.

NEVER do these things during Panchak

  • The roof of the house is not made during Panchak.
  • Furniture items like beds and sofas are not bought during Panchak.
  • During Panchak, wood or wood-related items are not bought.
  • Travelling in the south direction during Panchak is considered inauspicious.
  • Furniture items like beds and sofas are not bought during Panchak.
  • If someone dies during this time, their last rites are performed only after asking the Brahmin. During this period there is a possibility of five deaths in the family. That's why priests perform last rites in different manners to protect other family members. To escape this problem, a special ritual is followed. If anyone dies during the Panchak period, five dummies made up of wheat flour, and sacred grass are burnt along with the dead body during the funeral rites of the deceased person. This helps to eliminate the chances of 4 more deaths.

Types of Panchak.

The day the Panchak starts is noted and according to the day the type of Panchak is formed.

  1. Mrityu Panchak:-The month in which Panchak starts from Saturday is known as Mrityu Panchak. It's the most inauspicious one. If the Panchak starts on a Saturday then all auspicious activities are avoided during these 5 days. This may bring mrityu tulya kashta.
  2. Rog Panchak:- When the Panchak starts on a Sunday it's called Rog panchak. Rog means disease. This Panchak causes physical and mental issues so we need to avoid this Panchak also for auspicious activities.
  3. Agni Panchak: When Panchak starts on Tuesday it's called Agni Panchak. All activities involving machinery, weapons or excessive use of fire are to be abstained. But it's a useful panchak for court cases, or winning over enemies.
  4. Chor Panchak:- Friday Panchak is called Chor means a thief. This may lead to theft, robbery, cheating or loss in financial transactions.
  5. Raj Panchak:- As the name suggests its Raj means to Rule. This is a beautiful panchak to use for all auspicious activities if Panchak starts on Monday. Gains through finances, property related matters and even gains through government.
  6. When Panchak starts on a Wednesday or Thursday no need to follow these rules except for abstaining from a few activities mentioned above.
